Empowering Futures Igniting Success Building Leaders

What is Mentor Connector?

Where Guidance Meets Ambition to Transform Futures.

IAVM’s Mentor Connector program is a dynamic platform fostering transformative relationships, where seasoned professionals guide and empower the next generation of leaders, shaping a future of unparalleled excellence in the venue management industry.

One of IAVM’s greatest strengths is its membership network of industry professionals. Mentor Connector creates the opportunity for a seasoned, experienced professional (Mentor) to provide guidance and encouragement to a member who has an identified professional development need (Mentee). Together, they create a one-on-one, tailored 12-month program that focuses on improving the skill set of the mentee, while also enhancing the mentor’s contribution to the industry.

The Match: A mentor / mentee match is based on several mutually beneficial criteria: career interest(s), commitment, leadership position, community obligations, time availability, geographic location and personal interests. Each match is carefully tailored to provide a unique and valuable mentoring experience for both participants. Once a mentor / mentee match has been determined, both parties are notified, and personal profiles and contact information are provided to each participant.

Mentors sharpen their skills as they teach others, make a personal impact on the development of others, and strengthen IAVM and its members.

Mentees benefit from gaining first-hand knowledge, networking, skill development and support to realize their professional goals.

Participants who successfully complete a Mentor Connector program cycle qualify for points toward the Certified Venue Executive designation and continuing education.

Forge Your Path, Elevate Your Journey

“As a working mother of two young children, I found myself searching for a support system that understands the triumphs and struggles of balancing being a great mom, and striving to have a successful career in the event industry. IAVM connected me with an exceptional mentor. Her willingness to share her own experiences, and provide wisdom has helped me grow in the ways that are most meaningful for me as a mother and a leader in the workplace. We may be in different stages of our lives, yet we are both looking to make a difference in the world. It has been an honor to connect!”Danielle Weaver, Human Resources Manager, Erie Events

Lead the Way, Inspire Growth, Shape Tomorrow

“I have had the privilege of being part of the IAVM mentor/mentee program for many years and have enjoyed it immensely. I have met many talented, driven individuals with energy and a passion for the industry. It has been a true pleasure to be able to work with my mentees and give them insight of my past experiences but also be there to listen to better understand their mindset and what they see as challenges and/or opportunities. I truly learn something new every time we meet. I have developed long term relationships with my mentees where we have stayed in touch and where we continue to communicate long after the program is over. For me, this program truly is what you make of it. The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it!” – Michele D Powell, Vice President, Event Development, Haslam Sports Group
