Diversity and Inclusive Leadership Committee
MISSION: The Diversity and Inclusive Leadership Committee (DILC) is focused on developing opportunities to promote a diverse membership into leadership roles in IAVM. Leadership emphasis to focus on members of color, culturally diverse members, LGBTQ members, women and people with disabilities.
PURPOSE: The Committee serves to ensure that boards, committees and other leadership positions reflect diversity in their makeup.
Roles and Responsibilities of Committee Members:
- Collaborate with staff to identify issues related to maximizing the equity, inclusion, and diversity of ALL membership.
- Collaborate with staff and the IAVM Foundation to identify, plan, and execute the efforts to raise funds for the DILC scholarships.
- Recognize and celebrate the richness of an active, diverse membership.
- Advise IAVM staff, and as needed Board of Directors, on mechanisms and programs that encourage diversity in leadership roles.
- Encourage active participation by underrepresented areas of membership including identifying barriers and how to remove them.
- Provide content for VP Magazine around diversity, inclusion, and accessibility topics and write one or more blog post(s).
