Mark Mettes Announced as IAVM’s 2nd Vice Chair 2014-2015
The International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) is pleased to announce the nomination of Mark Mettes for 2nd Vice Chair of the IAVM Board of Directors, a prestigious honor denoting exemplary leadership and dedication to the Sport, Entertainment, and Convention/Exhibition Industries. In this role, Mr. Mettes will become a Senior Officer of the organization, serving a four (4) year term, ascending to the Chairman position in 2016-17.
Mr. Mettes is the Vice President of the Herberger Theater Center, located in Phoenix, Arizona, where he has been employed for the past twenty-three years. He is very active in the local community including serving five terms as the President of the Board of Directors for Reid Traditional School’s Valley Academy Charter School and three terms as the President of the Board of Directors for Reid Traditional School’s Painted Rock Academy.

Mr. Mettes has been a member of IAVM since 2002 and has served on the IAVM Board of Directors for three years as Sector Director for the Performing Arts Sector, IAVM’s Executive Committee, Officer for Region 7, chair of the Performing Arts Committee and the Chapters Committee, as well as being a member of the Professional Education Council, Industry Affairs Council, Membership Committee, Professional Development Committee, and History and Awards Committee. Mr. Mettes graduated from the association’s Venue Management School (formerly the Public Assembly Facility Management School) in 2006, and attended the Leadership Institute in 2002.
In 2013, Mr. Mettes was awarded the Chairman’s Citation by Richard Andersen, CFE during the association’s annual conference, VenueConnect. "Mark is a consensus builder, fair in his approach, and in addition passionate, empathetic, and very smart. To date, he has served three years on the Board of Directors, plus two recent terms on the Executive Committee where he was an active participant in moving the IAVM Coherent Governance® model forward. With the addition of Mark to our senior leadership team, IAVM's future continues to shine bright." stated IAVM Past Chairman, and President & CEO of Lighthouse Management Group, Richard Andersen, CFE.

Mr. Mettes follows in the path of a great number of predecessors that, over the past 89 years, have helped to shape the industry, and ultimately, the communities they serve. IAVM members will vote electronically on this nomination, and, if elected, Mr. Mettes will take office in July during VenueConnect, the annual conference & trade show, which will take place July 26-29 in Portland, Oregon.
