Richard Andersen,
CFE, Appointed President and CEO of Northlands
Coppell, TX – Richard Andersen, CFE,
long-term International Association of
Assembly Managers (IAAM) leader, has been appointed President and
CEO of Northlands in Edmonton,
Alberta.
“I am delighted to share the news with our community,” said Andrew
Huntley, Chair of the Northlands Board of Directors. “Richard can build
on the strong legacy of Northlands and take our multi-faceted facility
and events into an exciting future. We are confident that a leader of
his caliber can continue to position Northlands as a critical
entertainment and economic driver in Edmonton and Northern Alberta.
Richard will take Northlands to the next level.”
Andersen, who is looking forward to shaping the next chapter for
Northlands, said, “I am impressed by Northlands, its ambitions and its
strong connection to the community.”
The former General Manager of PETCO Park in San Diego and the Executive
Vice President of the San Diego Padres, Andersen has distinguished
himself as a leader in large-scale, international facility and sports
franchise management. He is also one of an elite group who have earned
the Certified Facilities Executive credential from IAAM.
At the helm of
PETCO Park,
which opened in 2004 to critical and architectural acclaim, Andersen
directed the organization from January 2002 through March of this year.
The park is synonymous with excellence in facility management, and was
recently awarded the 2010 Venue Excellence Award in the stadiums
category from the IAAM.
“Richard is an incredible leader with insightful impact with his
colleagues,” said Dexter King, CFE, IAAM President and CEO. “His
contributions have raised the bar for the profession and he has served
IAAM faithfully in many key roles.”
Andersen is currently the nominee for Second Vice Chair of the IAAM
Board of Directors.
The International Association of Assembly Managers is the world's

convention centers/exhibit halls, performing arts venues, stadiums and
