Subsequently, with the recent formation of the Council for Research and Knowledge Advancement (RKC) [www.iaam.org], the emphasis on acquiring “new” knowledge has increased exponentially.

Chair of the RKC Barry Strafacci says, “I applaud IAAM for ensuring relevancy to its membership by restructuring volunteer and staff resources to align with the member instigated strategic focus for the development of new knowledge products that will deliver not only research for benchmarking and economic impact but new information products and services to assist venue managers .”

Ms. Glazier earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas in Arlington. After coming to IAAM in 2001, she earned her Master’s degree in Library Science from Texas Woman’s University. Her tenure with IAAM has included library resources, program development, certification, education, and research. She earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation in 2008.

Key points identified by the IAAM members in the 2007 strategic planning initiative that Glazier will be responsible for include:

Identify, collect and disseminate data and knowledge on the venue management profession and
       operations of venues.

Produce research reports on the status of the venue management industry to help guide
       management decisions by venue professionals.

Rodney Williams, formerly Assistant Director of Education, is being promoted to Director of Education. Mr. Williams has worked for IAAM on the professional development team for three years in numerous capacities including oversight of education at specialty meetings, distance learning and web education. “I’m excited to see Rodney take on the additional responsibility. He shows great commitment and dedication to working in teams to deliver member value. ” says Dana Glazier.

Williams is a graduate of Northwood University in Management, and has a Master’s from the University of Dallas in Sports and Entertainment Management. He continues to pursue additional goals in higher education. Mr. Williams will earn his Doctorate next year in Business Administration. “As Director of Education, I look forward to developing and delivering education initiatives that promote personal growth for our members. To do this effectively, I am committed to IAAM values to ensure our members receive inclusive, appropriate, challenging, and informative professional development opportunities” says Mr. Williams. As Director of Education, Williams will be responsible for professional education development at all IAAM specialty meetings, schools and conferences. |

Chair of the Professional Education Council (PEC) Rick Haycock, CFE states; “I believe IAAM’s realignment will continue to provide quality professional development programming to enhance the public assembly venue profession.”

Key points identified by the IAAM members in the 2007 strategic planning initiative that Williams will be responsible for include:

Expand the delivery of educational products.

Pursue strategies to increase the proficiency of venue professionals in the skills necessary for
       successful venue management

Both IAAM colleagues assumed their new responsibilities on November 15. Although these new roles will be uniquely consuming, Ms. Glazier and Mr. Williams will continue to collaborate cross-functionally as professional development team members while the Association pursues excellence in the overall dissemination of venue management knowledge.
