Association of Assembly Managers Changes Name to
International Association of Venue Managers
(November 3, 2010 – Coppell, Texas)
–The International Association of Assembly Managers (IAAM) has changed
its name to the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM). The
IAVM Web address is now www.IAVM.org.
However, changing “assembly” to “venue” does not change WHO or WHAT
we are. To assure we remain recognizable for WHO we are, and for
WHAT we do, we will preserve all that our brand represents and
yet, reflect all that we can become in the future.
“Our new name clearly characterizes our industry better and aligns the
organization with what our members do – manage and operate thousands of
venues that serve communities, metroplexes, cities, counties,
territories, countries and more,” said John Siehl, CFE, IAVM Chairman of
the Board.
“With more than 85 years of organizational history, IAVM understands
that making changes is important. At its inception in 1924, the
organization was called the Association of Auditorium Managers. Over the
years the name changed to the International Association of Auditorium
Managers and then to International Association of Assembly Managers,”
said Dexter King, CFE, President/CEO.
“Regardless of our name, this organization is committed to being
relevant by encouraging and equipping today’s venue professionals
worldwide,” he said. “Through its many program offerings, IAVM will
continue to assist its members’ with commerce, advocacy, research and
education,” King continued.
“We will likely witness other changes as we continue to evaluate our
brand portfolio to ensure that it is nimbly meeting the needs of our
members and the industry it serves,” Siehl added.
The International Association of Venue Managers is the world's
largest professional association dedicated to issues relevant to the
management of public assembly venues. Members of the association manage
public assembly venues such as amphitheaters, arenas, auditoriums,
convention centers/exhibit halls, performing arts venues, stadiums and
university complexes; or provide products, services or attractions to
support the industry. IAVM has more than 3,500 members worldwide. More
information is available at www.IAVM.org.
