For Immediate Release May 1, 2006 Contact: Kim Cook (972) 906-7441 www.iaam.org IAAM Europe Hosts First Meeting in Vienna Coppell, TX—The International Association of Assembly Managers hosted the first IAAM Europe meeting in Vienna, Austria April 19 -21, 2006. A total of approximately thirty members, prospective members and IAAM officials were in attendance. The meeting started with a welcome from Peter Gruber, CEO of the Stadthalle Wien, and recently appointed District Vice President of IAAM Europe, then an introduction and welcome from IAAM President, David Ross, CFE followed by Dexter King, CFE, Executive Director of IAAM. The keynote session involved Greg Davis, from the Cajundome, Lafayette, LA., and Mark Hamilton, CEO of RockSteady Security in Edinburgh. The purpose of the session was to discuss Shelter Planning Best Practices which have been written through the IAAM Shelter Task Force under Greg’s leadership. At the meeting plans were also announced regarding the formation of the European Academy of Venue Management, tentatively set for September in Basel, Switzerland. The hope for the Academy is to provide relevant venue management education and to serve as the catalyst for the expansion of IAAM Europe. Also, plans were announced for the 2007 IAAM Europe meeting tentatively set for Amsterdam, April 18-20, 2007. The International Association of Assembly Managers is the world's largest professional association dedicated to issues relevant to the management of public assembly facilities. Members of the association manage public assembly facilities such as amphitheaters, arenas, auditoriums, convention centers/exhibit halls, performing arts venues, stadiums and university complexes; or provide products, services or attractions to support the industry.
