IAAM 82nd Annual Conference & Trade Show To Highlight Trade Show
and Education In Salt Lake City

Coppell, TX—The International Association of Assembly Managers—the leading association for managers of public assembly facilities including arenas, convention centers, performing arts centers, and stadiums—will host its 82nd Annual Conference & Trade Show July 20-24, 2007 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, UT. Conference activities will begin July 20 with the 18th Annual IAAM Foundation Friday Golf Tournament presented by Miller Brewing Company. The largest trade show in the public assembly facility industry will open Saturday, July 21 with daily hours through Monday, July 23. Conference educational sessions begin Saturday, highlighted by keynote speaker and Olympic gold medalist Mary Lou Retton.

IAAM members and leadership are eagerly anticipating the experience at the newly remodeled Salt Palace Convention Center. “The Salt Palace is one of the most beautiful convention centers I’ve ever been in. It’s large enough to accommodate large meetings such as ours yet has an intimacy and elegance that makes it a pleasure to be in. More cities should take note! Salt Lake City should be proud to have such a fine convention center,” said Robyn Williams, CFE, IAAM Conference Planning Chair and Executive Director of the Portland (OR) Center for the Performing Arts.

The Annual Conference & Trade Show is an important event for the business affairs of IAAM. At the Inaugural Luncheon on Monday afternoon, Larry B. Perkins, CFE, CMP, CPP, Assistant General Manager of the RBC Center in Raleigh, NC will pass the role of IAAM President to Steven L. Peters, CFE, President of Compass Facility Management, Inc. During the luncheon, special awards will also be given to recognize members for their service to IAAM. Lionel J. Dubay, Director of the Stephen C. O'Connell Center at the University of Florida, will be presented with the Charles A. McElravy Award, the highest honor bestowed by IAAM. Chris Bigelow, President of The Bigelow Companies, Inc. will receive the Joseph J. Anzivino Distinguished Allied Award, presented to allied members who have made extraordinary contributions to the industry.

The Trade Show will contain more than 300 exhibiting companies that provide products and services relative to the public assembly facility industry. In addition, for the third year, the trade show will again be combined with the National Association of Concessionaires, providing a wide range of exhibitors and attendees. The educational offerings at IAAM’s annual conference provide training in a broad range of issues that impact the venue management industry. Session highlights include an excerpt from IAAM's Senior Executive Symposium, "Missiles of October: Lessons in Leadership and Management,” Leveraging Diversity: Fostering Opportunities for an Inclusive Workforce , How to Get People to Do What You Want Without Bribery, Blackmail or a Magic Wand! with speaker Helen Wilkie, and consultations with subject matter experts on the trade show floor.

Social events are on the agenda as well. The Foundation Friday Golf Tournament at the Wasatch State Park Golf Course provides key networking opportunities, while celebrating the 25th anniversary of the IAAM Foundation which funds research and education for the public assembly facility industry. The President’s International Reception will take place Friday evening at the EnergySolutions Arena. IAAM Fun Night will be Monday, July 23 at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
